Enabling Record BLF on Fanvil X4U and X210

Modified on Wed, 26 Jan, 2022 at 10:33 AM

The guide assumes an existing phone is requiring a Record button.

To enable the record button on Fanvil phones, we replace the template for the phone in 3CX with a custom one. The custom templates are located in Advanced > Settings:

Note: You don't need to access this template to enable recording, this is just to demonstrate how it works.

The template replaces the 1st BLF field with a Record button. Pressing the button while on the call will record it and save to 3CX (when these instructions are followed).

The first thing to do is duplicate the 1st BLF for the user such as below:

If this is not done, and the first field is left blank, the Record button will not save, if it is set as BLF but there is only 1 of them then it will be replaced with Record.

The next thing is to Re-provision the phone with the custom template. On the Phone Provisioning tab for the user, click Delete but do not save yet:

Now click Add, scroll down to the custom templates and choose one that corresponds to the phones Model, in this case X4U or X210:

Its important to notice model of the phone in the correct places on the template:

For example, below the model of the phone always comes at the start "Fanvil X210" but there are 2 custom templates for this phone, choose the template that explicitly mentions the phone model.

(This could probably be improved by removing the phones that do not correspond to the custom template from the <models> array on the template but that is out of the scope of this guide)

Enter the MAC address for the phone you have just removed and press OK

Scroll down and ensure LLDP is enabled

Choose the correct logo, then press OK at the top of the page.

Now you need to point the phones recordings at 3CX otherwise the record button will attempt to record locally and fail. Get the IP address of the phone and browse to it on your web browser, use admin as the username and get the password from here on the phone provisioning page:

Once authenticated, go to Application and change the Record Type to Sip Info:

You can now do a test call to ensure the recordings show up in "Recordings" on 3CX:
