This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you connect and use a visualiser (document camera) with VLC Media Player. This setup allows you to display physical documents or objects on your computer screen, facilitating presentations and classroom activities.
Click on the Media menu located at the top-left corner of the VLC window.
From the dropdown menu, select Open Capture Device.
In the Open Media dialog box that appears:
Video Device Name:
Click on the dropdown menu under Video device name.
Select AverVision U50 (or the name corresponding to your visualiser model).
Audio Device Name:
Click on the dropdown menu under Audio device name.
Select None if you do not require audio input from the visualiser.
After configuring the settings, click the Play button at the bottom of the dialog box.
VLC Media Player will now display the live feed from the visualiser on your screen.
No Video Display:
Ensure that the visualiser is properly connected to your computer.
Verify that the correct video device name is selected in VLC's settings.
Poor Video Quality:
Check the lighting conditions and adjust the focus on the visualiser.
Ensure that your computer meets the necessary hardware requirements to process the video feed.

A: Yes, VLC Media Player allows you to record the input from the visualiser. To do this, navigate to the View menu and select Advanced Controls. This will display additional buttons, including a record button, which you can use to start and stop recording.
