This guide will take you, step by step, through the migration process from Google Drive to Office 365.

Note: You will notice you have a new drive, the M: drive. This is temporary storage to make the migration process smoother, please make sure to save here during this guide.

Preparation Phase:

1. You must first prepare your Google Drive for migration to Office 365. In order to do this, log into https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout

2. Scroll down to the '1 select data to include' section and click the 'Deselect all' button

3. Scroll down and select the 'Drive' check mark

4. Scroll down again and click 'Next Step'

5. On the 'Customize archive format' section choose the following setting, then click 'create archive'

6. You have now completed the preparation phase and will receive an email once the archive phase is complete.

Migration Phase 1: Download

Note: For this phase, we advise that you use Google Chrome, which you can open from the start menu.

1. Once the archive is complete, you can log back into https://takeout.google.com/settings/takeout and download your data

Note: You will notice you have a new drive, the M: drive. This is temporary storage to make the migration process smoother, please make sure to save here during this guide.

2. Click the download button, verify your password and make sure to save it to your M: drive

Migration Phase 2: Extraction & Upload
Option 1:

With this option you will extract your downloaded data in your M: drive, delete the .zip file we downloaded and upload everything into Office 365 yourself.

1. Firstly, go to your M: drive, right click on the .zip that you downloaded and click Extract All…

2.  This will bring up the following window, just click extract.

3. Once that is complete you should have 2 items in your M: drive, the zip file and the extracted contents of the zip file. Please delete the zip file once extraction is complete, then move onto the final step.

4.  Now, open the extracted takeout folder, browse to Takeout\Drive. There you will find all your documents from Google Drive.

5. All that’s left to do is upload these files into your new Office 365 OneDrive account. You can log into that account here http://login.microsoftonline.com

6. Once logged in, click on OneDrive

7. Now simply select all of your files and drag & drop them into your OneDrive.

Migration Phase 2: Extraction & Upload
Option 2:

If you aren’t based on one computer, feel free to pop into the IT office and we’ll take you over to an IT room and do the extraction and upload for you. Just make sure that the Preparation phase and Migration phase 1 are complete.
