You will not need to use MFA in school buildings
Online threats continue to grow, and our emails and documents contain sensitive information. In order to reduce the success of phishing scams and poor password management –we are turning on MFA for all staff, but only when they are not at one of our schools.
What does this mean for me?
I don’t use MFA currently
You will need to from home shortly. This means when you login at office.com to access OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook outside of school, you will need to enter a code or use the app.
I do use MFA currently
You will no longer need to use it in school. Just outside of school.
How do I use MFA:
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) means that to login, you need your username and password (so you need to be present), and a third way of authentication that means your registered device is there as well. The idea is that if someone works out, or gets, your username and password, they won’t have your phone, and if they have your phone, they won’t have your username and password. All staff members at Central RSA Academies will need to use MFA to login when not within our schools and using the school’s broadband. You will not need to use MFA when using remote desktop
Setting up MFA
You will need an Android or Apple phone, or any phone that can receive text messages, or a land line.Authenticating via these methods will not cost you.

1. Search your App store for Microsoft Authenticator and install
2. Login to your email at office.com and follow instructions.
Benefits: Press a button on phone to authorise your login. Option to enter a code if no signal. Can be used for other services

1. Login to your email and follow instructions.
2. Authenticate your phone
Benefits: You will get a SMS message sent to your phone with a code to enter to login.
Downside: You need signal

1. Sign into Office 365 with your work or school account with your password like you normally do at office.com. After you choose Sign in, you'll see this page: Choose Set it up now.
2. Select your authentication method and then follow the prompts on the page.
3. After you verify your alternate contact method, choose Next. Once you complete the instructions to specify how you want to receive your verification code, the next time you sign in to Office 365, you'll be prompted to enter the code that is sent to you by text message, phone call, etc.To have a new code sent to you, press F5.
